This first-year undergraduate foundation design course explores the compositional relationships between point, line, plane, and color through a series of visual studies. Working with a wide range of drawing media, students investigate how different approaches to composition and color application shape visual expression, evoke emotion, establish rhythm, and influence perceptual experience.

Exploring the rhythm, hierarchy, and visual tension of typographic composition through the reorganization, layering, color application, and scale variation of letterforms. Exploring visual order and rhythm through the repetition of geometric forms, variations in density, and black-and-white contrast.

「Final Project: Applying principles of composition across four A4-sized pieces to create a cohesive visual narrative.」 He radiates boundless innocence and playfulness. He “Became a champa flower, just for fun, and grew on a branch high up that tree.” One day, he is accidentally tripped by the tree, and vines begin to coil around his body. As he suffocates, he releases one final sound and becomes part of the ancient tree that has stood for a thousand years. Time turns its pages at an unhurried pace. He returns to nature, his thoughts bursting into life as new connections begin to form. No longer bound by convention or routine, he starts to bloom, slipping into a radiant daydream.
